colleenSHG member Colleen East will teach a two-day class for beginning weavers. No prior weaving experience required. Class will be limited to eight students.

This workshop is designed to teach brand new weavers how to set up a loom and weave basic plain weave and twills. Students will learn how a harness loom works and how to read weaving drafts and patterns. A four-harness loom is required for this class. (No rigid heddle or “knitter’s looms” please.) If you do not have a loom to bring to class, the Guild has several for rent.

Registration for this class is now closed.

About the instructor:

Colleen has been weaving for almost 30 years, She has taught and demonstrated beginning weaving, ikat, warping a loom and sewing with handwoven fabrics.

She was co-owner of Conjoined Creations, a hand-dyed yarn company and has taught many dying classes. Colleen enjoys many of the fiber arts: weaving, handspinning, knitting, sewing and weaving wire jewelry.
