Yardage on loomThe first of six, monthly, three-hour sessions to plan and get assistance with an upcoming SHG yardage weaving challenge. Be inspired to weave yardage for the very first time or get tips to weave your best yardage ever. Also, find about about ways to sew and use your handwoven yardage.

As part of a group, you’ll spend six months working through the weaving process: planning (yarn and final project choices, color choices), drafting (calculations, record keeping, sett, beat), sampling, warping, weaving, wet finishing.

The goal for participants is completing yardage in time for a yardage challenge project unveiling at the October 2016 meeting and preparation for a yardage workshop in the fall of 2016. This group will be one part cheerleading, one part support group, one part weaving clinic.

Sessions meet on Mondays Feb. 1, March 7, April 4, May 2, June 6 and Aug. 1
from 2:00 until 5:00 PM and/or from 6:00 until 9:00 PM (depending on number of interested participants and their schedules)

These sessions, which are free to SHG members, will be facilitated by Jen Garrison Stuber and Sarah Laudenbaugh.

SHG members who would like to participate, PLEASE RSVP TO Jen@AngrySpinner.com  A count is needed to set up the room and have supplies ready, and determine if there will be enough participants for both sessions.

For the first meeting, bring:

  • Yarn choices (or ideas)
  • Project pattern (or ideas)
  • Grid paper
  • Notebook
  • Colored pencils, pens or pencils
  • If practical, your computer or tablet with weaving software, and the knowledge to use it.
  • A finger food to share.
  • Something to drink, if you’re so inclined.
